Life is a surprise....
Well! Quite a bit ago (sorry we haven't kept up) we realized that Starshine was NOT a girl! But by then, he and Miss Kitty had already done the 'wild thing' so today God blesses us with the most beautiful tiny three baby kitties.

Miss Kitty came thru like an experienced champ, accomplishing it all on her own. She chose a perfect spot behind the bookshelves, which we had created as a fun tunnel for them to play in.
It has been a learning experience, as we had no idea how to tell whether a cat was preggers or not! But there are so many good resources online, and we learned that the gestation period for cats is 9 weeks ( think like 9 months for a human, easy to remember). The symptoms are them eating a lot more, either more affectionate or not affectionate, each cat is different. Miss Kitty just....looked different to me. Bigger around the middle, like a football.
Miss Kitty was still affectionate, but didn't like being held. She sure enjoyed the back massages we gave her and Star got addicted to them, too!
We tried adding an egg to her food, and some protein powder for gestating mothers but she turned up her dainty little nose at it. She had cravings...she wouldn't eat anything but one kind of can cat food that was shredded and the all natural dry cat food that had lots of veggies. No, no ice cream......
Starshine has been so inquisitive, but kinda freaked as Miss Kitty doesn't like him nearby and he is used to cuddling with her. But he is giving her space and she is not being mean at all. She is ok with us handling the babies as well. He is such a mellow kitty, as is she and we are constantly amazed that these wild, feral little throw-a-ways are such good, loving animals.
It kind of completed the cycle for us, of love and belief in these little lives, were meant to be.
